 Miss Joan Davis acted as hostess at the residence of her mother, Mrs. E. Davis, 5 Loeven-street, Cairns, when she entertained guests to a pre-wedding kitchen tea in honour of Miss Kath Thompson, whose marriage to Mr. Eric Biggs is arranged to take place in September. Those present were Misses Pat Busby, Loretta Reidel, Shirley Thompson, Joyce Christensen, Heather Allen, Doreen Crease, Mesdames Thompson and E. Davis.
 The hostess, Joan, was smartly frocked in grey linen with touches of red, and the guest of honour Kath chose a lovely frock of pink faille, trimmed with pink velvet.
